Reinventing Business in Pursuit of a Noble Purpose
As the way we buy, sell, and consume changes, every organization is being challenged to lead with more purpose and humanity. Consumers and shareholders alike are demanding more, forcing transformational changes that impact both the bottom line and the greater good.
In this on-demand session, Hubert Joly, former CEO and Chairman of Best Buy and author of the upcoming The Heart of Business: Leadership Principles for the Next Era of Capitalism, will expand on the philosophies behind the resurgence of Best Buy: pursuing a noble purpose, putting people at the center of the business, creating an environment where every employee can blossom, and treating profit as an outcome, not the goal. He'll be joined by executive leaders from FNAC/Darty and Verizon Media, who will share how they are leveraging their marketplaces for good to meet rising expectations for environmental, social, and corporate governance.
Watch this on-demand session to learn new strategies on how to champion these transformational initiatives within your own organization, and get insights on how every leader can use their influence to improve their business practices and the world.
About our speakers:
During Hubert’s time at Best Buy, he and his team rebuilt the company into one of the nation’s favorite employers, a sustainable leader, and an innovator, dramatically increasing customer satisfaction and growing the company’s stock price ten-fold. His greatest achievement, however, may have been to make himself dispensable: he decided to step down as CEO in 2019 and as executive chairman in 2020, and pass the baton to a new generation of leaders.
Hubert’s purpose in life is to make a positive impact on the people around him and use the platform he has to make a positive difference in the world. In addition to serving on boards, he now spends most of his time as a lecturer at Harvard Business School and supporting other leaders seeking to become the best versions of themselves and to lead with purpose and humanity. He is also actively invested in efforts to advance meaningful diversity and inclusion.
In 1998, he joined Groupe Fnac tasked with establishing and developing the brand in Portugal. He then held various positions within the Group in both Spain and Portugal. In 2004, he joined the Executive Committee as CEO for the Iberian region.
In 2012, he was invited to France to head up the France and Northern Europe region (France, Belgium and Switzerland). In 19 years, Enrique Martinez has contributed significantly to Groupe Fnac's growth.
Since July 2016, he was entrusted with overseeing the efforts to integrate the Fnac and Darty brands in France, which, in a matter of months, would result in the creation of the first synergies between the two brands.
He has been Chief Executive Officer of Fnac Darty since July 2017.
